• Robert Burns Birthday Celebration

Celebrate the Birthday of the Man Who Saved "Auld Lang Syne"

Rapid City - The Black Hills Celtic Society will be celebrating Robert Burns Birthday with Traditional food and music. As any good BHCS member should know, during a time of Scottish political unrest, the British monarchy banned many of the cultural significance to the Scots. Among them were the famous Highland Tartans, most traditional literature and the Gaelic language. Robert Burns, the Poet Laureate of Scotland, is credited for helping to rescue the culture and music of Scotland from extinction in the 1700's. Burns toured the country writing down folk songs and poems. In addition he wrote many original workds. Burns translated a Scottish bar anthem called "Auld Lang Syne", keeping it alive for us all to enjoy in our modern New Year's Eve Celebrations.

The Burns Supper will be held January 25, 2020 at the Rushmore Hotel and Suites (445 Mount Rushmore Rd., Rapid City SD)
The social will begin at 5:30pm, and the traditional Celtic meal of Haggis, Beef and Salmon will be served at 6:00pm. Address to the Haggis, Toasts to the Lassies, Laddies, bagpipes and other traditional entertainment will follow.
Tickets must be purchased in advance.
